Squaring The Circle Presents:
Walking In A Winter WONDER-Land
A Tribute To Stevie Wonder
By Randy Harris
On May 12, 2016, Baltimore instrumental rock band Squaring The Circle experimented with a tribute to one of the greatest musicians and songwriters in history. The quartet hosted a tribute to Stevie Wonder at The 8×10, one of Baltimore’s most beloved local venues. The evening was riddled with special guests; local musicians who provided extra instrumentation and vocals. It would truly be an understatement to say that the evening was a success. The venue was packed out with people of all ages, races and creeds who were all there for the same purpose: to dance and celebrate the music of Stevie Wonder. The host of guests on stage provided an incredible atmosphere that showed the kind of power that a strong local music scene can hold. Since moving to Baltimore, I have been awestruck by the strength of the local music community here in town, and this show absolutely solidified my feelings.
Six months later, Squaring The Circle announced that they would be bringing their Stevie Wonder tribute back to Baltimore, this time taking over The Ideal Arts Space in Hampden, one of Baltimore’s most festive and historic neighborhoods. The event will be hosted on Saturday, December 17, and will feature three full sets of music: an opening set from DC’s Of Tomorrow, an original set from Squaring The Circle, and, finally, a Stevie Wonder tribute set from STC and special guests. Food and bar will be provided by Corner Restaurant and Charcuterie Bar, including a special tap takeover from Waverly Brewing Company. There will be artists and other vendors set up for your perusal, and tickets to this event are just $15.00. Of Tomorrow will kick off the night at 9:00 pm sharp!
I am incredibly excited to announce that Ragin’ Randy Entertainment, in partnership with my friend Marc Shapiro Media, will be a part of this event. Together, we will be providing full coverage of the event, as well as setting up as vendors to sell prints of some of our photos. I was also very fortunate to have the opportunity to sit in on a rehearsal with Squaring The Circle, and I have put together a promo video for this upcoming event. Please see the video below, which announces special guests and features exclusive footage of a Squaring The Circle rehearsal. This celebration of life, art, music, and of course, the great Stevie Wonder, is sure to be one of Baltimore’s highlights of the winter season. Before we get all caught up in the holidays, let’s have one night to dance all of our troubles away.
